A hypocrite visits Cairo

UK Prime Minister David Cameron visited Cairo today, and had his photo taken in Tahrir Square. Meanwhile in neighbouring Libya peaceful protesters are being gunned down by Gaddafi’s regime. Many of the weapons being used have been supplied by the British.

Britain normalised relations with Libya in 2007, when Tony Blair met Gaddafi in a desert tent for what became known as ‘the deal in the desert’. This deal involved gas and oil rights for BP and Shell. There has been much speculation that the release of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, from a Scottish prison is linked to these deals.
